The Force is Strong With This One
Have you guys seen the latest VW ad, shown during the Superbowl? The one with the cute Darth Vader in it.
For those who are Football fans, you would not have missed it. For the rest of us, here it is below.
The.Cutest.Shit.Ever!!
I love how at the end, the little dude was like..DID YOU SEE THAT?? I AM AWESOME!! :))
The kid who played mini DV is 6 year old Max Page who was diagnosed when he was an infant with the heart defect Tetralogy of Fallot. Here he is in his interview on The Today Show.
Isn't he the cutest boy ever??!! He even looks like a young Mark Hamill.
Seems like the Force is Strong With This One. Now if only he can stop George Lucas from making crappy movies.
ps: Now I want a Passat!!!

Confessions
Guess which one is mine.
OMG if the opposite of love is indifference, my marriage is in serious trouble. I honestly couldn't give two shits about DH. I don't care if he shows up for dinner, don't care when he shows up at all or where he goes. Nothing. As long as he doesn't fuck other women and bring home an STD or a bastard, I couldn't care less. I almost prefer him to NOT be around. But we don't fight, so I seriously thought this might be normal.
My husband has all the potential and after 11 years he is successful and still makes my stomach do flips when he walks through the door. He is my best friend I love him more than anyone. Sometimes I think he is more important to me than anyone else and it scares the hell out of me.
One reason I would never want to be pregnant. You are basically expected to live in a plastic bubble for 9 months and do NOTHING else. I don't feel like becoming a walking incubator, not allowed to do anything.Thanks.
The more you ignore me, scold the kids for being kids, not take my sexual needs to heart, pull & grab on me when you are ready for sex, etc..., the more attractive this other guy who is interested in me and seems a complete gentleman will be! God, IDK what to do!
I am making changes to improve my life. My DH stays in the same rut day in and day out. I really worry that if he doesn't stop stagnating our relationship will seriously suffer.
DH only touches me when he wants sex. Would it be too much to ask for a hug or kiss even when I'm having my period?
every night I go to bed and wait for my DH to put his arm around me,kiss me,something,anything...and when I hear the snoring start my heart sinks...I don't know how much longer I can do this. I have someone who wants to be my lover!

So Quiet
Hubby and the girls (plus the maid) are all in Melaka visiting my in-laws. I didn't go because I have to study; more mid terms looming next week plus I have several group assignments due.
The house is so quiet. A nice environment to study in.
Instead I find myself logging onto youtube and watching sad commercials.
This one made me cry.
Now I miss hubby and the girls.
How much do you want to bet I'll be crying myself to sleep tonight?

I Have No Face...To Book
Everyone's been bugging me to open up a facebook account. Arrghhh, as if I need more methods for people to bug me. I don't get what's with the fascination of facebook. I looked at it once and it totally turned me off. Do you really need 167 "friends" in your life? Or more importantly, who has time for 167 friends nowadays anyway.
My gal pals have been telling me facebook is the way to communicate nowadays. YM is soooo yesterday according to them. Huh, I think I'll just stick to YM. For one thing, I only have to add people I know to my contact list. Plus my profile isn't out there for the world to read.
I don't need to find people who have the same interests as me. I already know who these people are. I don't need to reconnect with people who I haven't met for 20 years. If we were such good friends, we would have stayed in touch. Yeah, maybe it would be nice to see old friends again but truth to be told, after 20 years, what would we have in common anymore other than previously sharing a crush on our Mathematics teacher?
Don't get me wrong, I'm not being anti social here. Nor am I judging those who are into facebook. Hey, whatever rocks your boat, alright? I'm content to stay here on my little island with my selected group of friends and drink pineapple juice. Heeee...

I Heart Youtube
I upgraded my blog template. The layout looks a bit funny, especially the header but it will have to do for now. Maybe when I’m in the mood, I’ll tweak around with the layout some more. I lost some of the gadgets from my previous template like my Shoutbox and various links. Luckily I saved the old template’s coding so maybe I can still salvage those. Also, since Blogrolling has been down for some time, I decided to just use Bloggers’ bloglist widget. I think I’m still missing a few blogs though. If you find that your blog is no longer on my Blogger’s Delight list, please let me know.
I added a few widgets, like the Follower’s list (baru sorang…hehehehe) and a music playlist. Konon nak bagi nampak funky la tu. Excuse the Mandy Moore song but ever since I watched A Walk To Remember (courtesy of youtube), the song has been playing in my head again and again. I rather like it plus Mandy Moore can actually sing. And actually the movie isn’t all that bad. Kind of predictable (teenage romance and all) but still quite sad at the end.
Speaking of youtube, that site was my salvation during my resting period at home. It’s amazing how many movies I got to watch (for free!!). I was able to watch Misery (finally…I had been trying to see that movie like forever!!), Brokeback Mountain (heh…
Misery – fabulous!! Kathy Bates as Annie Wilkes is dead on!! Totally Oscar worthy. James Caan’s performance was not too shabby either. I cringed during the infamous “sledgehammer scene”…Oh My God!!! I love Stephen King’s books and I thought this movie was a good representation of it, eventhough they did change a number of scenes to suit movie goers. Go see it!
Brokeback Mountain – ok I admit, I watched it because I was curious about..you know, the whole gay cowboy thingy. Turns out it wasn’t that big of a deal; the “scene” was kind of shot in the dark to begin with and you don’t actually see much. I did think the whole premise of the story, being about forbidden love and all was quite sad. I would say go watch it if you love movies with beautiful scenery and heavy moral issues. Oh, just to entice the guys, you get to see Anne Hathaway topless. Heeee…man, that girl sure “developed” alright.
Anne of Green Gables – this was one of my most favorite films when I was a teenager. Like all the girls my age at that time, I fell in love with Gilbert Blythe. Man, was he good looking! Plus I also loved Anne Shirley and her funny antics. The two follow up films were also very good but showed too little of Gilbert, in my opinion.
Penelope – This movie is rather recent so I was surprised to see it available on youtube. I was interested in it because it had James McAvoy in it. Heee. However, the movie was rather nice too. I thought Christina Ricci looked cute with a pig snout. Haha.
Atonement – again, James McAvoy. And Heather, you were right. The movie was kind of boring but I kind of cried at the ending. I blame my hormones. Hah.
Suicide Club – This is a Japanese Horror that I had heard about a few months back. Even with the subtitles, I didn’t actually understand the whole movie. If anything, just watch it for the gory suicide scenes. And believe me, they are rather gory.

Mee Bandung Success
Today was yet another tired day at the office. Add to the fact that we all didn't wake up for sahur, the office was freezing. REALLY FREEZING!! I felt my veins shrinking. Is that possible? Tomorrow I'm bring socks. And maybe my gloves if I can find them. How hard is it to type with gloves on your hands? It's the raining season, for crying out loud, do they really have to put the aircon on full blast?!! Grrr...
I knew the kids would love it because they love any kind of mee. I called home to ask Enon to defrost the chicken and bought the rest of the stuff at the grocery store on the way home.
Since both Enon and I were first timers at cooking mee bandung from scratch, we followed the recipe closely. Since we were both fasting, we couldn't really taste the soup until it was time to break fast.

Anwar - Shabery Debate
Last night hubby took control of the TV (very rare occasion) and made me watch the live debate between PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim and Information Minister Shabery Cheek.

Everybody Dance Now
I really love watching Britain's Got Talent. Too bad they don't show it here in Malaysia and I have to watch most of the performances on Youtube.
Remember when I blogged about this guy, Paul Potts. He was the winner for 2007.
This is the winner for 2008. And what a fabulous boy he is. That face and cheeky smile. Geram!! And his dedication in winning the competition for his family...I pray if I ever have a son, he'll turn out as charming and as humble as this boy does.
Ladies and Gentleman, George Sampson!!
His Semi-final's performance was even better...makes me want to go singing in the rain.

Money Advice...From Someone Who's Also Still Learning
Today and yesterday I attended a very interesting course; Finance for Non-Financial Executives. The reason was initially so I could make heads and tails out of all the financial reports and P&L statements I had to go through during the course of my work, but in the end I came out with a lot more knowledge.
During one of our chit chat sessions, our lecturer touched on the subject of personal financial planning. She gave an example of her ex-colleagues who had retired but were forced to dive back into the corporate sector because they had non or insufficient savings to last them during their retirement years. She then gave an example of another ex-colleague who is not only currently enjoying his retirement years playing golf, but also has 3-4 houses for renting, thus generating passive income on the side.
Being seated in the front of the class subjected me to be the "example" during the lessons. The prof asked me whether I had any assets to my name; I mentioned I had a car and an apartment, both of them already fully paid for. To say she was impressed was an understatement. In fact looking back, I probably was the person in the class with the most net worth to my name.
During lunch hour, I was approached by one of class members who asked me about my financial strategies; how on earth was I able to afford a car and apartment and not have any loans to burden me with? Did I win the lottery? Did I get a huge inheritance from anyone?
My answer was simple; I made sure I spent less than what I earned.
Sounds simple, right? Yet you would be surprised to know that a lot of people I know, not only live from one paycheck to another but also accumulate debts on a monthly basis.
She then asked me, I make so and so every month and it's barely enough to get by. How can I ever have enough to start saving?
I told her, make your savings automatic. Fill out the form from HR and allow them to deduct a certain amount from your salary that will be autodeposited into your ASB or Tabung Haji. Just make sure you place this savings into a place that you can't just use an atm card to withdraw money from. Depositing money into another bank where you don't have an atm card is also a good option.
My concept is "out of sight, out of mind". If that portion of money is not made readily available for me to spend, I usually find that I don't even miss it and even find ways to compensate for the decrease in spending money.
Ways I've cut down my monthly expenses.
1. I sometimes bring breakfast to work. Usually I eat it a bit later in the day, at around 930am. That way, at lunch I'm still half full and don't feel the urge to stuff myself. Another idea would be to also bag your lunch to work, something I'm also considering after I get a more reliable maid.
2. I drink lots of plain water. At my office, we have a ready water cooler so basically plain water is free for the staff. When I go out for lunch with my colleagues, I fill up a bottle of water and take it with me. That usually saves me RM1.50 if I were to order hot lemon tea. Times that by 5 days a week and 4 weeks a month and the savings can really add up.
3. I carpool when going out for lunch. We usually take turns driving so everyone gets a chance to save on petrol.
4. I make a grocery list and make sure I stick to it. It's very easy to get "lost" at the grocery stores and by pushing the trolley down every aisle, I would normally find myself spending up to RM200 per trip, mostly on items that were never on my list to begin with. By sticking to my list and minimizing the amount of time I spend at the grocery stores, ensures that I cut down on fraudulent spending and increase my savings.
There are a lot of ways to increase your savings. Another tip that I found extremely useful was to meticulously track my expenditures for at least 3 months, then go over the receipts and figure out where my money was going to and how I could cut down on the spending. I found out that one of my weaknesses was to visit the store at the petrol stations whenever I stopped to fill up on petrol. Those RM2.50 cups of corn can really burn into your budget if you allow them to.
I would recommend everyone who's interested in finding out how to improve their net worth to visit The Simple Dollar. I find the articles to be very informative and really easy to understand, which is important for a non-finance executive like me.

Is That Your Final Answer?
You know how sometimes your brain goes blank that even the simpliest question stumps you? I once played scrabble with my brother and he put down C-O-W. I went livid..."Chau!! Chau is not a word!!"
Until today, my brother makes mooing sounds whenever I do anything stupid.
Yeah, I guess I can relate what this woman was going through.

True Confessions
I've found these great new sites...
http://truemomconfessions.com/
http://trueofficeconfessions.com/
I've read through a few of the confessions and found myself nodding my head to some of them.
Some of my favorite quotes:
"There's a load of laundry sitting in the dryer. Since Friday. Maybe I'll get it out tomorrow." - from truemomconfessions.com
I can relate becoz See Previous Post. I'm gong to have nightmares of dirty laundry chasing me around the house soon.
"I worked at an advertising agency for 8 years- and each year we were required to write our own "self evaluations". After the first two years of "self evaluations" that nobody paid attention to, I would just cut and paste the text year to year on the form! So for 6 years nobody caught on to the SAME exact self evaluation. morons." - from trueofficeconfessions.com
I can relate becoz...well, I can relate. Truth of the matter is, those at the top don't really give a damn. They already have their company car, and offices with a view and who cares about a mangly employee who "wishes to exert her utmost potential to bring more revenue to the company". Bleahhh...
"My hubby is in Iraq. I wish more women would realize how great it is to have your hubby around than to complain about the littlest of things." - from truemomconfessions.com
I need to remind myself no matter how badly hubby messes up sometimes (and its not that often), I'm lucky he's around and there when I need him.
I added in a few of my own confessions to the site. See if you can spot them.
