She knows her name already. If you call her, she will try to find you.She loves to coo and smile. Irresistible!!
Her cheeks are just asking to be bitten!!
Her hair is growing back in spikes! She looks like my 2nd brother, haha.

Her sisters adore her to bits.
She's Daria Syazmin and I can't get enough of her!!

Where I Just Want to Lie Down and Sleep the Pain Away

Sorry I haven't updated in a while. It's been a busy past 2 weeks; what with preparations for my brother's engagement ceremony, Daria turning 2 months old, me starting work again.

To top this off, I contracted mastitis. I can't tell you how painful it is but if I had to describe it, it would be like labor pains for the breast. It felt like someone took a razor to my breast and sliced it open then poured salt water all over it. Yeah, breastfeeding is such a joy. Especially when every suckle Daria takes, feels like she's drawing blood from the nipple. It was so bad, I had a 102 degree fever, complete with chills and aching joints. To add to the agony was the hacking cough I contracted from the girls. For 3 days it was like *cough* *cough* *cough* *silent scream and clutch breast*.

The doctor was sympathetic, seeing how she too had previously suffered from mastitis. She tried massaging my breast to let the milk out and it took every ounce of strength in me to stop myself from knocking her down. She gave me antibiotics and 2 days of MC. She told me to get plenty of rest, drink lots of water and to breastfeed/pump as often as possible to prevent more blockage in my breast. Friends have been advising me to use cabbage leaves or hot cloths to relieve the pain. I haven't tried the cabbage solution but hot cloths and hot showers have helped somewhat.

Other than that, things have been peachy. Heh!

I'm Fat!!!

You know that scene in that cartoon The Incredibles, where Elastigirl a.k.a. Mrs Incredible is trying to rescue Mr Incredible and she sees her reflection in the mirror and takes a few seconds to check out her behind in her new superhero uniform? You know her expression, like "WTH?!! Who's lower body is THAT and how did it get so BIG??!"

Yeah, I can totally relate. Dude, my thighs are like....huge. Walking creates a fire hazard as they rub together so much. And my butt?!! Argghhh...like Elastigirl said...*sigh*.

I know, I know, I just gave birth, so I shouldn't freak out about the weight gain. Or extra inches. Normally I wouldn't because with Dania and Dina, I went back to normal size almost instantly after giving birth. But this time is different. It's like I've absorbed too much "baby fat" to bounce back to regular size.

Maybe it's an age factor. Maybe my metabolism rate just isn't what it used to be.

Well, one thing's for sure, I HAVE to do something about this. I tried on my old pair of jeans and could just barely zip them up. Even then, I had what we famously call "muffin tops".

I HAD TUMMY ROLLS!! I'VE NEVER HAD TUMMY ROLLS BEFORE!!
ARGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!

What I need are simple, no fuss solutions. I need to exercise, no doubt about it. I don't believe in slim fast drinks or creams so don't advice me to waste money on those stuff. I feel like a contestant on The Biggest Loser, I need me a hot Bob Harper or the even-hotter Jillian Michaels.

Puuuurrrrrr!!!! Yummiieeee!!

OK, enough talk about "food". Since I don't have nor can I afford a personal trainer, I googled some exercises. I found this great site on msn called exercisetv. And guess what, they have Jillian as one of the trainers.

YES!! Talk about motivation.

So far, I've tried a session of "lean and mean leg workouts" and boy, can Jillian really drill it to ya!! But perseverance is the key. Let's hope I don't go "hangat-hangat taik ayam" too soon.

Wedding Preperations 01

My brother is getting married.

Finally!! Hah!!

As a result, my mom has gone onto panic drive and is constantly calling me up with ideas for the wedding ceremony, gifts, outfit, etc. I've unofficially been appointed her wedding consultant, a job title I relish because remember? my previous dream of actually becoming a wedding planner.

Since I don't start work until next week (eeeekkkk!!!), I've taken the time to do come intenet research on where to hire the caterer, the canopies, wedding cards, etc. I'm also drawing up a budget for my dad, because let's face it, he's the banker. Like my brother's gonna pitch in any dough....hmmm?

The engagement ceremony is set for the 1st of August, eventhough according to my brother, he's considered himself already engaged when he proposed to his girlfriend. Dude, just because you were born in England, doesn't make you a mat salleh anymore than I am. Kentut bau petai gak. Hahaha...

I plan to drag my mom to Nilai 3 next week so we can find some tray covers and more ideas on how to decorate the gifts. My first shopping spree since I finished confinement....can't wait!!

More Mid Term Results

Last Saturday, Dina's school held a PTA meeting to discuss the students' mid term results. Unlike last time, Dina's teacher had some things to discuss with us.

1. Previously, Dina wasn't much of a talker in class. Nowadays, she talks a lot. Especially when she's not suppose to. She would finish her work quickly, then proceed to disturb her friends beside her. Hmmmm....

2. She refuses to answer her teacher in English. Sometimes she would just mumble her answer.

3. One day, she didn't tell her teacher she needed the toilet and accidentally WET HER PANTS!! Ayoyo!! Tak pasal2 Along kena bayar untuk seluar baru.

6. Despite her good results (100 for BM and Maths, 96 for English and Science), she got #6 in class. Most of her mistakes were due to carelessness...kes tak check keje la ni.

We discussed further and found out that her behavior changed right around the time Daria arrived. Mystery solved!! I guess Dina was just acting out, maybe out of jealousy. Well, she has been the baby of the family for nearly 5 years, it must be rather hard not having the spotlight on her anymore.

I don't know how to counter this. I've tried spending more time with her while I'm still on leave but it's hard with Daria conquering most of my time. I try to sit down with her while she does her homework. I try to cuddle her and kiss her more so she doesn't feel abandoned. I just hope she knows that her ibu and ayah still love her so much, despite being so busy with the new baby.

******************************************************

Dania, on the other hand, did really well for her Kafa results. She got second in class, with most of her marks above 90. Bravo Dania!!

Holy crap, I'm 33. Is that old? I don't feel that old. The other day, 2 of my dear friends from primary school came to visit and we got talking about the good old days. Then we talked about how we had changed and how we had grown (old). Zu, so far, my memory is still intact...hahaha...but I can feel the years in the body sometimes.

F - Favorite color
Blue. Whenever I go shopping, every tshirt or shirt I first touch will be blue in colour. My wedding theme colour was blue. What my favorite colour says about me:

Soft, soothing, compassionate and caring, Blue is the color of deliberation and introspection, conservatism and duty. Patient, persevering, conscientious, sensitive and self-controlled, Blues like to be admired for their steady character and wisdom. They are faithful, but are often worriers with somewhat inflexible beliefs and can be too cautious, and suspicious of flamboyant behavior.

G - Gold or Silver
Silver. I do not look good wearing gold. Maklum la, gelap. Hahahaha...

H - Height
Tall enough to make the basketball team but not be on America's Next Top Modal. Heeee...

J - Job title
At home: Queen Ibu, ruler of the coop. At work: Manager, ruler of my own desk.

L - Living arrangements
A bit confused about this...married with children? Am I answering the question?

M - Mum's name
Nor Ainee. Also known as Her Majesty the Queen Mother.

N - Nicknames
Along.

O - Overnight hospital stay other than birth
Several. I got severe diarrhea when I was 8, hospitalized for 2 days. I fell and split my chin when I was 9. I fell and cracked my head when I was...I forgot how old I was. Hospitalized several times for pregnancy related complications. Hmmm...my insurance company must love me.

You don't want to make me angry. You won't like me when I'm angry.
Ok, so that's from a TV series...so what?

U- Underwear
Nursing bra is a must!! Underwear...not so much. Muahahahahaha...

V - Vegetable you dislike
Broccoli. Or what I call them, little trees. Seriously, who eats them? Oya, my x room mate, Liza. Everytime it was her time to do the groceries, she would buy broccoli. And cook them. And expect me to eat them. Yuck!!

W - What makes you run late

Confinement Over

Well, finally my confinement period is up. Actually I finished it last Monday but was too busy with Daria, that I didn't get a chance to blog about it. Alhamdulillah, confinement wasn't all THAT bad. There were some really bad days but overall, it was ok. Just thankful that it's over though.

I had a follow up session with my doctor last Tuesday to do a pap smear and discuss family planning. I wanted to be among the 1st to see her so after breastfeeding Daria, I got out of the house at about 9am. I stopped by Dania's and Dina's schools to pay their tuition fees for July then headed straight for the hospital. Fortunately I was early, I only had to wait 10 minutes before I was called in.

After doing the pap smear and small talking with the doctor, we discussed family planning. Actually my doctor asked me when I was planning for my next baby (hmmm, yeah...and we all know how I feel about that!), so I just told her that it was waaayyyy to soon to be talking about babies again. We decided to go for an IUD because I had used that before and it worked for me. I have another checkup scheduled for next month to check the status of the IUD and make sure it's staying in place.

Since my doctor's visit was short, I decided to go check out the warehouse sale over in Puchong. I wanted to see if there were any good strollers and car seats for Daria. I found this stroller at a greatly reduced price. It was still slightly higher than what I originally had planned to pay for a stroller but I figured what the hell. It was really comfortable and Daria deserves something that isn't 3rd hand anyhow. I didn't have time to check out any car seats though, hopefully hubby and I can go check them out this weekend.
Oya, here's a link to the website about the warehouse sale. They have all sorts of stuff, not just for babies. I saw some toys and children's clothes as well, going for really low prices.

I'll be going back to work in 2 weeks. NOOOOOOOOO!!! Since my maid will have her hands full with Daria, I need to find transportation for Dania to her afternoon classes. So far I haven't had any luck, mostly because the vans were already full and the buses refused to take her because our house is on a street with a dead end (the buses can't make a u-turn). I may need to hire one van to take her to school and another one to bring her back home, but that's gonna cost me double. But if that's the only choice, then I'll just have to fork out that extra cost. It's worth not having the headache of worrying about Dania.

Well, this weekend we're going to my mom's house. It's going to be a busy weekend. PTA at Dina's school plus something's up with my brother. Don't worry, it's something good which I'll update in another post. In the meantime, I need some shuteye before Daria wakes up and demands her milk.

Cheerio folks!!

We Won!! We Won!!

Remember that Tutu contest I entered for Dina? Well, seems that my last minute entry won!! Yeah!!!

Ok la, not 1st prize...consolation je, but still...ok la...I'm so happy.

Since the prize is 15% discounts for any purchase at Tutuworkshop outlets, I'm considering getting the girls their very own tutus. Even Daria, since they also make adorable baby tutus. How cute would she look then?! People would never mistake her for a boy, for sure!

I'm pretty sure it was that adorable picture of Dina dressed up as a princess that made the entry a winner. Heeee...she's going to be so happy when I tell her she's getting her own tutu soon.
