A Post of Many Rants

What does it say about you when you read the menu that says “Fish and Chips with Honey Mustard” as “Fish and Chips with Horny Mustard”? Good grief, even the waiter was trying to hide his amusement.

My eye allergy is much better now but I’m still scared of using any eye drops. I still think I need to go for an eye checkup, seeing how my grandma is getting an eye operation too. Suddenly, memories of all those hours of starring at the TV box, 3 centimeters away from my face, comes to mind. Damn that idiot box!!!

Going back to Melaka today to see my new nephew. Wow, I’m a real aunt. Surprising how having kids of my own doesn’t make me feel old, but becoming an aunt does!! Just don’t call me makcik!!

Just my luck. I try to learn from life’s lessons and buy those darn Disney on Ice tickets early. I check today’s email and my company is giving seats to the shows at 25% discount!!! ARGHHH!!!

Meme Tag...4 Favorites

I’m on mc today, thanks to an eye infection. Actually I think it’s more of an eye allergy, coz I used a new eye drop yesterday and today when I woke up, my eyes looked like I had gone a few rounds with Mike Tyson. I could hardly open them.

Four Jobs I've Had:
1. Reeve – during my University days, I worked as a reeve a.k.a jaga at the buildings. Basically you sit at the front desk and watch the people coming in and out of the building. You get to pest students for their ID, which I never did. You also get to watch the panel for any fire alarms. Graveyard shifts were the best coz I got a ton of homework and reading up done. Paid enough for my trips to Paris, Florida and Bahamas. Hahahaha….I miss those days.
2. Grader – also during my University days. Paid USD10/hr. Eeeaasssyyy money.
3. Technician – during my practical training. It sucked big time.
4. Assistant manager – what I’m doing right now. Just 4 more years to go.

Four Movies I Can Watch Over and Over
1. Thanks to my kids – The Incredibles
2. Anne of Green Gables
3. Scent of a Woman – Al Pacino rocks!!
4. Anything and everything that has Edward Norton. *Sigh*

Four Places I Have Lived
My family moved around a lot when I was growing up. Made life interesting, to say the least.

1. Sheffield, UK – during when my dad was taking his Masters and PhD.
2. Kuala Lumpur
3. Melaka
4. Tennessee, USA - I wanna go back!!!

Four Television Shows I Loved to Watch
I admit, I am a potato couch.

1. CSI – Gil Grissom is hot!!! He can dissect me anytime…hehehee.
2. America’s Next Top Modal – my guilty pleasure. I don’t care what you think, I love this show.
3. Monk – this is such a funny show, hehehehe.
4. Amazing Race – they’re having Amazing Race Asia!! I wanna join!!!

Four Places I Have Been On Vacation
I love traveling and while in the US, I traveled a lot. So I’m going to choose the best 4 holiday trips I’ve had so far.

1. Paris – the best place so far. Even in wintertime, it was magical. Of course, being there with hubby made it even more romantic.
2. New York – this is one of the best cities in the world!! So happening, I could totally live there.
3. Bahamas – great holiday. We went to see the place where they train dolphins fro the movies. They’re so smart!!
4. Gold Coast, Australia – went there with hubby, Dania, my parents & my brothers. Had the best week ever.

Four of My Favourite Dishes
I’m not a picky eater. I can probably eat anything and I’ll try mostly anything.

1. Chicken rice – how boring but that’s what I would probably order whenever I find myself in a food court.
2. Spaghetti Meatballs – again, the only thing I would order when I’m eating at Secret Recepies. I really need to be more adventurous.
3. Laksa Penang
4. Chocolate – ok, so chocolate isn’t actually a dish but it does count as one of my favorite food. Make that extra DARK Chocolate.

Four Websites I Visit Daily
I bloghop a lot so I’m not going to list down any blogs.

1. MSN.com
2. Bluehyppo.com
3. Maybank2u – checking to see if I still have money and to pay bills.
4. CourtTV –coz I love to read forensic cases ala CSI

Four Places I Would Rather Be Right Now
Ahhh, so many places I would rather be right now.

1. Paris – like I said, it is the most romantic place ever. The people were friendly (surprisingly) and the food was good.
2. Whitewater rafting in New Zealand – I found this place on the Net. Looks divine.
3. Disneyland – coz it really is the Happiest Place on Earth.
4. Upstairs in bed, in hubby’s arms – ok, this is doable. Hehehee..

Four Bloggers I am Tagging
1. Kampung gal – coz she really needs to update her blog. Hahaha..
2. Mary Bishop – coz I just know she’s going to give such interesting answers.
3. Noresh Anshar – coz she has so much time on her hands
4. Nadya – coz she loves doing memes. Hehee..

Enjoy!!

Because You've Got To Install Some Culture Into Your Kids at Some Point

My mom should have told me sooner that she wanted to see Puteri Gunung Ledang – The Musical. All tickets are sold out, right up to the 26th February. Sucks!! Word is they’re going to extend the show dates. Hopefully.

Sket2 bengang, not because I wanted to go but because mom did. Nevermind, at least I have those tickets to go see Disney On Ice. I bought three tickets for Dania, my mom and myself last Saturday eventhough the show is in April. Learn from what life teaches you, my friend.

Dania has been asking about the show since forever. I have a feeling she’s going to ask about it everyday until April. Sheesh, that’s a long time.

Close Encounter with the Rich & Famous

In my line of work, I get to rub shoulders with some famous people. Some of them are nice and really friendly; some of them really need lessons at the anti-snob school. Sorry, no names to be mentioned. Fastinglah today, cannot gossip. Hehehehee…

So last week, we had a chat session with Tony Eusoff. For those who don’t know who he is, get out from under your shell; he’s always on TV. Mostly remembered for his stint in the hit TV drama, Astana Idaman, (noooo, I didn’t watch it, but I know of it!!), he’s also a well known TV model and host. And he’s mighty good looking too.

Here are pictures of him during the chat session and one with me!!

Laughing at the many insane questions that came thru during the chat

Hek eleh, macam nice couple tak? Kahkahkahkah...

This is one crazy dude. He came for the chat session on his motorbike, without wearing any jacket. Throughout the entire chat session, he was complaining about his sunburn (it did look quite bad). He answered all of the questions in a cheeky manner and had us rolling on the floor with laughter with his antics.

Here’s hoping I get as good a celebrity as Tony for our upcoming chat sessions.

OK, got to go back to work.

I'm Blaming Everything on My Medication...

I’m fasting and also high on cough and flu medication. I had a 9am meeting in KL, which meant I couldn’t sleep back after sahur and now I am kicking myself for not catching a few winks. People have been calling me none stop on the phone and only 30% of what they’re saying is actually getting processed in my head.

Can you say Monday Blues?

My weekend rundown.

Saturday morning, we received a call from my MIL. Hubby’s aunt (my FIL’s younger sister) just passed away due to stroke. Hubby and I both jumped out of bed, bathed, got dressed, arranged with my mom to come over and look after the kids – and then it hit us – we had no electricity. I should have noticed it when we both woke up slightly sweating because the aircon had turned off. It wasn’t until we had gotten everything ready and were about to start the car that I pressed the auto-gate button…and nothing happened. Of course, you idiot, there’s no electricity!!

We searched high and low for the gate key that allows you to open the auto-gate manually but I haven’t seen the keys since…forever. Hubby thinks he placed them in his tool box (great idea!!!) but we searched all 3 tool boxes (on why we have so many tool boxes yet never get around doing any home improvement projects is another blog post altogether).

We called the electric company about the power blackout and then called the auto-gate company to come and bring us some spare keys. Turns out they just can’t give you spare keys coz they don’t keep them. So in the end we had to pay them RM70 to change the key box and provide us with two new keys plus another RM240 to do maintenance.

So in the end, we ended up not going back to Melaka for the funeral (the burial was scheduled at 11am and the power only came back around 10 something) and had to borrow my maid’s pocket money because both of us didn’t have enough cash to pay the auto-gate people. Masya’allah!!!

Sunday was a bit better. I finished up my filing project, which I had started yesterday and thank goodness too coz I just realized that we hadn’t paid this months’ AND last months’ utility bills. Could this have been a factor in Saturday’s power outrage? I put everything in cute folders marked “BILLS”, “INVOICES AND RECEIPTS”, “PERSONAL DOCUMENTS”, “BANGI HOUSE” and “KELANA JAYA APARTMENT”. I also created one box to put in all the manuals and warranty cards. It took me all day and gave me a sore back but it was worth it. I am organized, I am neat…until next month that is.

A Rundown of the Grammies...of Some Sort.

I was partly watching the Grammies last night – partly, because I was channel flicking between Star World (which had the Grammies on) and Channel V (which had America’s Next Top Model). I tell you, I can’t get enough of Tyra Banks!! Anyway, they’re showing Season 4 over here and last night that spoilt brat, forever-whining-and-looking-for-a-fight Brandy got cut. Hubby was ecstatic.

So anyway, part of the Grammies that I missed was the opening, which had the Gorillaz and Madonna. Damn, I would have wanted to see that, especially since Madonna sang her highly contagious song, Hung Up. Can anyone sing (or dance) “Disco” better than the material girl? Believe me, I’ve tried and with my kids as my witnesses, it’s not easy at all. But nice if you want to look stupid and work up a sweat at the same time.

I missed out on Kelly Clarkson grabbing the first award for Best Female Vocal Performance, and also Coldplay’s performance of their latest single, Talk. Double Damn!! What the hell was I watching at the time? I have a feeling I was rocking out to the theme song of Jojo’s Circus, when I should have been rocking it out with Chris Martin and his very bad hairdo.

I missed out on John Legend (this is not much of a Grammies review, is it?) and also the country performance of Alison Krauss and that other country band..whatever the name is. The only country singers I know are Faith Hill, Shania Twain…and Dolly Parton. Ahaks!!

Thank god I caught U2 performing. “Vertigo” was electrifying to say the least. Then they had that song with Mary J. Blige, which had Uno, One, and other “one” on foreign languages plastered all over the big screens. I kept my eye out for “satu”, which is one in Malay but alas, I didn’t see any. Nice song though, even if Ms Mary kept jumping up and down like a rabbit on speed and kept interrupting Bono, who was trying to play the guitar, by grabbing his hand and raising it to the roof. Hahahah, kind of funny coz I think Bono looked a bit peeved.

Then were the nominations for Best Rap Album, presented by Matt Dillon and Ludacris. Matt Dillon looked a bit old to me. In my opinion, he should have stayed with Cameron Diaz, maybe then her happy and vibrant attitude could have rubbed on him and made him look younger. Kanye West won and tried…a little bit too hard, in my opinion, to pull of a few laughs by saying that he didn’t expect to win – only to pull out a huge sheet of paper that said “THANK YOU LIST” at the back of it. Seriously, you could have heard a pin drop with all the non-existing laughter that was there. Poor Kanye. Thank god you’re a singer, not a stand-up comedian.

Then there was Kelly Clarkson, who I though did one of the best performance that night. OK, so I missed quite a lot of them, but still her rendition of “Because of You” almost had me in tears. She also wore one of the best dresses out there, red and flowing. I had hoped the cameras would of focused a bit more on that little girl who was playing the piano coz I think it was the same girl that is featured in the music video.

Gwen looked spectacular in her leopard-print gown. Obviously being pregnant totally agrees with her. I hope I can look that radiant when I get pregnant next year. Ahaks, yeah right..what wishful thinking!!

Paul McCartney’s performance was ok although I hardly know any of the songs. It was energetic enough for a considerably old man.

What the hell was Jennifer Love Hewitt doing at the Grammies? And presenting an award with…The Black Eye Peas? Having all the members of BEP was crowded enough so putting Ms Hewitt there was really out of place. I bet she did it for the goody bags. And her gown…girl, you need to realize, your bust size isn’t that big. Sagging breasts do not equal sexy. And those bangs…sheesh, she looked much better when she was humping Carson Daly. And that’s not saying much.

Mariah Carey. Hmmm…her performance was ok, but I think I heard her voice crack a few places. Plus, she was jumping all around the stage like a rabid dog. Her gown was tasteful for a chance and her hair…was it her real hair? Lovely!! Almost makes me not want to cut my own.

Kelly Clarkson won again, this time for Best Pop Vocal. She beat out Gwen!! I love this girl; talented, beautiful and so down-to-earth.

I missed out on the next couple of performances but managed to catch the tribute to Sly Stone. What a wreck!! Fantasia was disappointing, to say the least. She was gasping around like a fish out of water. Totally distracting. And Ciara? Girl, those long, slim legs can’t save you from a disastrous performance. Horrific vocals. Even Devin from that now-kaput boy band, LFO, featured better. Urghhh…

Linkin’ Park with Jay-Z was rocking!! And that guy from Linkin’ Park, the one with the high vocals, looked fiiinnneee!! All dressed up in dapper suits…smoking!!! The song collaboration with Paul McCartney also was a nice one.

I missed part of Bruce Springsteen and also Destiny’s Child award presentation to U2. I saw a little bit of Kanye West’s performance but rap music gives me a headache, unless it’s from Eminem. I missed out on Cristina’s performance too but saw U2 pick up the awards for Best Album. I really thought they were going to announce Mariah as the winner but instead a bunch of rocking 40 year olds won. Hehehehe…U2 rocks!!

Green Day won!! Yeah!!! Did you know that the singer from Green Day, has 2 kids already? 2 or 3? He looks like he just graduated from high school. Hahahahaa…

The tribute to New Orleans was a bit boring and just how many Grammy Lifetime Achievement Awards were handed out that night? I must have counted four, then stopped counting at those old folk people that Tom Hanks introduced.

Anyway, I guess the Grammies were kind of entertaining this year. Kind of mellow, no drama or scandal or wardrobe malfunctions. Teri Hatcher and Alicia Keys tied for Most Sexiest outfits, in my opinion but Kelly Clarkson wins for Most Decent and Sophisticated. Best performance (from what I saw) goes to U2, minus Mary J. Blige.

I can’t wait for the Oscars next.

It's Gonna Have Ta Start Someday...Why Not Now?

It’s finally going to happen. Insya’allah. After discussing with hubby and giving the idea much thought, I’ve decided to start my wedding planner service now. No need to wait until I finish my contract with my current employer. I’ve decided to try doing the service part time and gain experience. And to make it not so scary, I’ve decided to partner up with my old-time buddies, Nora and Liza.

The project is still in its infant stage but we’ve started with our business plan, and have listed down what exactly we are going to offer and so far everything is looking ok. We’ve even thought of a name for our company (cewah, company!!), which I can’t disclose yet; not until I’ve secured the domain name and gotten the website up and running. However, that won’t be long…hopefully by the end of the month, we’ll have our website done and our business cards printed out. By then, god willing, we’ll be ready for service!!

So to those who are planning to get married, or know somebody planning to get married, just keep us in mind. I’ll announce more once the website is up.

If She'll Be Needing Any Therapy Later On, I Think We Can Pinpoint OUt Why

When you're fooling around under the covers with hubby, the last thing you wanna hear is a sleepy voice telling you "Ibu, Kak Long wants to go Pee Pee!!!".

Good God! How long had she been standing there?!
