Upside Down

Because that's how I feel right now. Upside down. Topsy Turvy. Hurricane in my head and all around me.

You know how people always say "Life is like a wheel; one day you're up, the next you're down?" That is SO TRUE!!

Last week I was walking on sunshine. New promotion, spa doing well, kids being adorable, house renovation on warp speed, hubby all romantic. Nothing could touch me, I was invincible.

This week?! Huh, let me tell you about this week.

1. My exec is on mc for 2 weeks, my boss is still on maternity leave and my bigger boss is on a 2 weeks course. That leaves ME to handle all the issues, meetings, presentations, training sessions, and everything in between. For days now I've been eating lunch at my desk because there's too much paperwork to do and one hour of eating outside is such a luxury.

2. My brother might have dengue and is still pending results from the hospital. Seeing how my office is near his college, I had to skip lunch, take him to the hospital, get him registered and then call my mom to see the doctor with him. I really hope he'll be fine.

3. The girls are sick. Coughing and coughing like there's a frog stuck in their throats. Dina has it bad. It usually gets worst at night, OF COURSE when everyone needs to get some sleep. Hopefully they're much better today. How I wish I could take a day off and take care of them. Dina cries everytime I go out for work that it KILLS me. Sob...

4. One of my spa staff...well, let's just put it this way. Some people, you help them and bend over backwards for them and instead of thanking you and counting their blessings, they find a way to fuck you 4 ways from Sunday. To make a loooooonnngg story short, GOOD RIDDANCE!! Luckily we may have 2 more new staff coming in, so there's a silver lining there.

So, this week I'm really tired. Going to Penang tomorrow for a training session, flight @ 6.55am!!! Uwwaaaaaa!!! Can't wait for Friday for my girls day out with my girlfriends. I haven't taken a day off in 2 months!!

ps: I'm writing this at the office, while photostating some forms I need to bring to Penang. Murphy's Law applies, the more tired you are and the more you really want to go home, the more shit happens. The photostate machine just went on a craze rant and messed up my forms so now I have to START ALL OVER AGAIN. I wasted 100 pieces of paper that can not be recycled (Al Gore, don't kill me!).

Horses, Tooth and Pregnant Women

So many things have happened in the last week, I don't know where to begin. So Heather, this may not be much of an update but I'll try to please your royal arse because I'm full of love like that.

1. I still owe the rundown on our stay at The Golden Horses 2 (nearly 3!!) weeks ago. I have some pictures of the girls but everytime I try to upload, Blogger refuses to show me some love. So in a nutshell, hotel so-so, architecture = nice, rooms = ok, hallways = musky smell, pool = FABULOUS!!, food = too small a portion + expensive. Grade 2.5 stars (out of 5). Thank god it was free (thanks ayah!!)

2. Oh, Dania had her first tooth out last Monday. Yeah!! Apparently her baby teeth are extra strong but because one of her bottom front permanent tooth had started to come out , we had to go to the dentist to yank the baby tooth and make way. She was such a trooper!! Even when the dentist put that HUGE needle to her mouth, she didn't flinch (unlike her squeamish mother). So now Dania's going around the neighborhood, showing off the gap in her smile.

The dentist was really nice and did a lot to sooth Dania's fears (or rather, her mother's). She explained everything to Dania and praised her when the job was over. I was so happy with the results that I decided to get some professional cleaning on my own teeth. All in all, we were both done in 20 minutes and it only cost us RM100.

Info on the dentist: Klink Pergigian Nurul, No 24-1, Jalan Puteri 4/2, Bandar Puteri Puchong. Tel: 03-8061 6184 (appointments may be required)

ps: I wanted to take pictures of Dania but the battery in my camera is dead and I can't seem to find the charger. Grrrr....

3. Business at the spa has been good. I mean, REALLY GOOD!! Ever since Ida and I started our aggressive marketing (spamming friends and chasing pregnant women in shopping malls with our flyers) and we got into all those magazines (yes, more than one!!), people have been walking into the center EVERYDAY!! Who thought there were so many pregnant women around our area in search of post natal care?!! Heeee. So on an upside, business has been coming in steadily and the staff are all excited. On the downside, Ida and I found out that we need more staff. And soon. We're looking to interview and hire some this week or the next. Also, with all the running around, I haven't had much of a weekend with the family of lately, something the girls have grumbled about since recently.

But it's all good. Work has been good, in fact I was promoted as of last week. Which was kind of expected and definitely hoped for but then I've learned not to put too much hope into anything when it comes to work rewards. But my bosses were angels and really helped push me for the position, so now I'm like bonded to them for life!! Hah!!

So, yeah, it's been good and busy and that's why I haven't been updating which is kind of lame because I want to write all this down and be able to remember how it was and what it felt like, so Heather, thanks for the push.

CarcaMarba

So many thing to write about but so little time. Work has been hectic as we've been preparing for an Exco presentation and since my boss is on maternity leave, I've had to be the hands-on, go-to person. Which is fine. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, ya?

I still have Dania's Yamaha Exam and Concert photos and videos to upload. That's going to be so stale by the time I get around doing it.

Oya, just to let you guys know, IREE Touch is in the media!! We're in this month's edition of Pesona Pengantin, page....I forgot, but it's somewhere in the back. One whole page in color!! Please check it out. Just answer a few simple questions, cut out the bottom part of the ad and send it in to the address given and you can win IREE Touch spa vouchers worth RM350. Of course, buy the magazine first (duh!). But it's the Bumper Issue so there's lots and lots of really great articles and fashion pictures inside.

What else? Oya, I have free tickets to go see Get Smart (I know, old movie but that's why the tix are free) which I really want to watch because I think Steve Carell is hilarious. JUST.NEED.TO.FIND.TIME.

Time. Where are you?

Other than that, things have been pretty normal. How have you guys been so far?

Good Vibrations All Around

First of all I want to say thanks to those who gave comments, sms'ed me and YM'ed me with regards to my last post. Memang tengah bengang when I wrote the entry but thanks to you guys, I've cooled down. What for get all riled up over negative comments, right? Like my good friend Liza said, "just take it as a compliment, depa bleh terasa tercabar ngan ko". Hahahaha...oklah. Enough said. Let's go on to more positive stuff.

Thanks also to those who have been asking me about the spa and when it's going to open. Memang tak sabar, kan? Just to update everyone, renovation is in full swing. The plumbing has been done, now we're in the demolition stage. After this would be laying down the tiles and putting up the room partitions. Before that, we have to make sure the Jacuzzis and saunas are also in place. Once all the "heavy stuff" has been taken care of, we'll start putting in the aircons, fans, lights, reception counter and other spa equipment and office furniture.

We've done the design for our big banner that's going up in front of the spa. A million thanks to all those who helped;

1) Our fabulous photographer, Ms Hasmah aka Jojet for taking such great shots of our model and her cute baby. If you guys have a wedding, birthday party or any other events that require a photographer, I would highly recommend her. Please visit her website to see her great photography skills in action or call her at 013-3420717.

2) Our make up artist, Kak June who took her time and made sure our model was looking fresh and lovely. Anyone looking for a make-up artist, can call Kak June at 017-3777553 or email her at june.azhar@gmail.com. Kak June even does decorations for the pelamin and bridal bedroom and hantarans for weddings, so those of you who are tying the knot in the near future, can call Kak June to discuss.

3) Shah and Win from Aspirasi Screen who did the design and printout for the banner and also our wall sticker. You guys are great. And funny...layan je lah. Hehehe. Anyone looking to make any banners, buntings and such, can call them at 03-9283 5461.

4) Last but not least, to our beautiful models, Pn Liris and her comel-yang-amat-sangat baby girl, Issabel. Thanks for being such sports and for having us at your house until late night.

********************************************************

Hubby and the kids are in Melaka right now. They went back last night and are scheduled to be back home after Isyak, with my MIL in tow. Tomorrow hubby and I will be heading off to Bandung for our much awaited honeymoon #3. Hehehehe, jangan jeles. I plan to do lots of shopping, eating, shopping, shopping and shopping some more. If I can find the time, I might try out the spas over there, see if I can get any ideas for IREE Touch.

We'll be back on Thursday, so until then, be good people. Take care.

Happy Couples

Sorry I haven't updated in a while. Been at a course since Monday until tomorrow. Last week, Ida and I bought all the major items for our spa center like the jacuzzi, saunas, hot blankets, etc. We spent (a bomb) and shopped from 10am until 9pm. By the time we actually found some time to sit down and eat, we were ready to faint from light headiness. But it's all good, the renovation is coming along fine and we have electricity and water and the tiles have been ordered and the fountain has been purchased and the aircons have been procured and we can give foot spas now because we bought that water foot massager which I have yet to try....and...and...it's been hectic but fun and I can't stop thinking or talking about the spa.....HEEEEEEEE!!!!

OK, enough about that. What else is there to talk about?

Hubby's back from his "male bonding" trip in Jakarta. I missed him so much. But it's true what they say, distance makes the heart fonder.

I found this article on msn.com and thought I would like to share it. I love reading articles on how to keep your marriage alive and fun, especially after so many years together. The parts in italic are my own comments and thoughts on the matter.

Start solid.
Remember that best friend you had when you were a kid? Whether blissfully playing side-by-side in the sandbox or building an awesome fort together, you two just grooved on being in each other's presence. Happy couples share that same serendipitous groove, if in the all-grown-up world. Romantic chemistry aside, they genuinely like each other as people and truly enjoy walking down the path of life hand-in-hand.
When hubby and I first got together, we found out that we liked a lot of the same things, mostly travelling and seeing new places. Even after 2 kids, we try to find the time to go for holidays at never-before-been-to places. 2 weeks from now, insya'allah we'll be going for our 3rd honeymoon together (minus the kids!!) in Bandung. Can't wait!!

Keep it fresh.
Routines and traditions can give a couple a comforting sense of predictability that's both grounding and reassuring. But surprises and adventures are also essential to really keeping that spark alive. Happy couples make a habit of shaking things up a bit by planning weekend getaways to undiscovered destinations, saving their pennies for a dream vacation, or launching fun and ambitious projects together. Having exciting things on the calendar to look forward to and sharing new adventures together reaffirms their connectedness and refuels the romance.
Hubby and I love getting presents for each other, especially for our birthdays and anniversaries. We like surprising each other with naughty sms's..hahaha. Whenever I get a funny joke in my inbox, hubby's the first person I forward it to. Just our way of telling each other, "I'm thinking of you".

Clear the air.
It's perfectly natural for any couple to encounter frustrations, disappointments, and miscommunication from time to time. But if grievances go unaired, they can pile up to a mountain of resentment and put the relationship at risk. Happy couples make sure they keep the communication open, and navigate those inevitable rough spots with honesty and mutual respect. If any issues should arise that seem too big or too complex to resolve between the two of them, they'll schedule some sessions with a couples therapist to help them safely weather the storm.
I guess it's true what they say, those who love passionately, fight passionately too. Throughout our 13 years together, hubby and I have had fights to rival World War 2. We're still learning on how to express our displeasure with each other in a healthier way and I guess age and the girls have taught us to not take things too seriously. There are times when we get on each other's nerve but in the end, we forgive, hug and make up.

Have a life.
A healthy relationship consists of two individuals who each maintain a strong sense of themselves and take a genuine interest in the other. One may decide to go back to school to pursue a higher degree, while the other may get involved in a volunteer project or a photography workshop. Maintaining individual identities and pursuing individual interests ensures that there'll always be new things to share and to learn about each other.
I have my spa. Hubby has futsal and his male-bonding sessions with his pals. Both activities exclude the other but receives all the support it requires.

Tune it up.
Whether it be once a month or once a year, a regularly scheduled sit-down can allow for some essential upkeep and maintenance of a healthy relationship. Happy couples may agree to a periodic summit meeting to check in with one another about the overall well-being of their partnership. They may discuss what they've been appreciating about one another, what dynamics could use some tweaking, and what is on the horizon for their future as a couple. A little preventative TLC from time to time helps keep those relationship engines running smoothly.
Hubby and I like to lie in bed and talk about our dreams for the future. We talk about having more children, even after the painful losses we've gone through. We talk about being financially independent and spending our old days together touring the world. Allah ajelah will decide whether our dreams will become a reality but it's nice to know that you have that special someone to share these visions with.

Footnote: Analise Pendergast is a freelance writer specializing in topics of sexuality and relationships. She offers writing workshops for women called Sex, Lies, & Language. You can find the article here.

I hope no one thinks that I think hubby and I have the perfect marriage. Far from it. What's important is that both of us continue to work at it. Yes, marriage is work. Which makes it sometimes fun, sometimes...well, feels like work.

Kita hanya mampu merancang, Allah yang menentukan. Aku doakan hubungan aku ngan hubby kekal bahagia ke akhir hayat...Amiiin.

Spa Shopping Spree

So last night Ida and I went to CaVeNzI to select some furniture for the spa center. Ida was on "chummy chummy" terms with one of the salesman there, as she had bought most of her home furniture there also. As a result, we got quite a discount for the following items:

1. 2+3 sofa, for the manicure and pedicure/waiting area.
2. 3 coat hangers, to hang the bathrobes and for clients to hang their clothes.
3. 1 divider, to separate the waiting area and the activity/prayer room.
4. 7 shelf shoe rack, for clients to place their shoes and take the slippers before entering the spa.
5. 1 long wall mirror, dunno where to place yet but most probably in the activity/prayer room.

All in all, RM2+++ je. OKlah kot..now just to buy a few stuff for the pantry area and the office. Itu, kat Giant/Tesco?Carrefore je pun ok.

Tomorrow we'll be shopping for the jacuzzi, sauna and other "major" items for the spa. Hopefully we can get good discounts. It's been a a daunting process, researching all the items because this is our hard earned money we're using to buy all of these stuff. We're also looking for a nearby apartment for our staff, teh nearest so far is Koi Tropika. So if anyone knows of an apartment to let in Koi Tropika, please let us know. Thanks.

Also thanks to all my friends and family members who have shown tremendous support for the spa so far. I've received emails and sms's asking for vouchers for friends and officemates. You guys are the greatest.

Wanted: Photographers and Designers for IREE Touch

Sorry I haven't updated in quite some time. Been super busy, if not with work, then with work related to my new spa. Actually I don't like to call it a spa coz what we've got planned for it is so much more. We're IREE Touch, Post Natal Home Care Services, Wellness & Beauty Care.

A mouthful, right?

Anyway, Ida and myself have been meeting up everyday, talking about our business plan, our treatment packages, checking out beauty spa suppliers, surveying furniture, meeting with contractors, etc. It's been hectic but fun at the same time. I've been getting only 4 hours of sleep since Monday but hopefully it's only until our center opens.

Anyway, we're looking for people/designers to help us with our promotional materials, such as flyers, website and such.

As we have NO BUDGET to pay cash for these services, what we can offer is the following:
1. Free membership to IREE Touch, valid for 2 years.
2. 2 x Rejuvenating Full Body Massage (Free) worth RM160
3. 2 x Foot Reflexology (Free) worth RM90
4. 2 x Pedicure and Manicure + Henna (Free) worth RM120
5. 2 x Whitening and Hydrating Facial (Free) worth RM100

The above mentioned treatments can be taken at IREE Touch or at the comfort of your own home.

Any takers? Let me know kay? Can also email me at alongsj@yahoo.com. Thank you.

Discounted Price: RM35.00

4. Pedicure & Manicure + Henna
Normal Price: RM60.00
Discounted Price: RM40.00

5. Whitening & Hydrating Facial

We also provide post natal home care services, package customized according to the client's needs.

As our spa is undergoing renovation (the big launch shall be announced soon, insya'allah!!), we provide the abovementioned services at the comfort of the client's home. Just contact me at alongsj@yahoo.com or my partner, Ida Rafidah at 012-281 6016 to set an appointment. For those who live outside of the Puchong area, some transportation fee may be added on.

What can I say about this big leap I'm taking? For one thing, I just can't stop thinking about it. And in such a good way. In my heart I feel that this could only mean more positive things in life, insya'allah. Thanks so much to my friend for having the trust in welcoming me as her partner.
