Another Milestone Accomplished

Daria has learned how to roll over. And lucky me, I happened to be there when she first did it. Yesterday's meeting ended at 11pm (still considered "early" since it was scheduled for 12pm), so this morning I went to work a bit late.

I love playing with Daria and watching her smile. As she rolled onto her tummy the first time, she gave a HUGE grin from ear to ear!!
That's my girl!!

Old Friends

It’s 8.30pm and I’m still at the office. Our presentation session is about to begin but my part is still way into the future. Looking at the agenda, this meeting is scheduled to end at 12 midnight. Mampos!!

I hate going back home late. One main reason is because of the kids, especially Daria. Being only 4 ½ months old, she still needs to be breastfed in order to fall asleep at night. And it’s not only for her sake; I love those special minutes with her especially since sometimes it’s the only time I really get to be with her on weekdays.

Since I’ll be stuck here for another 4 hours, I’m taking this time to blog about my reunion with my dear friends, Amani and Rina.

I met A&R when we all joined The Company as scholars. This was 14 years ago. Man, I feel old.

First thing I noticed about A&R is how gorgeous they were. Me, on the other hand, didn’t know the first thing about make up or dressing up. As time went by, I learned that not only were these gals beautiful, they were funny, smart, kind, caring and CRAAAAZZZYYY!!

We spent 2 months together at ITM KL for our English course, except Rina had to cut the course early because she was selected to go to the US early. Amani and I became roommates and God bless her heart for bearing with me during my “Nirvana” days. Also for being there for me when I had my heart broken by my stupid crush on SA. OMG, how stupid was I then?

After the English course, we headed to Lumut for our OBS (Outward Bound School) course. Or what we all fondly recall as OUR TIME IN HELL. Blast you Rina for not having to go through this.

Amani, I can’t believe you actually miss our OBS days. Don’t you remember kayaking around Pangkor for 15 hours?? Fifteen!!! Having to run 5 km every morning! Having to do our business in the freaking woods! And having to eat uncooked canned meat for 10 days! God, even the sight of those cans make me sick.

Gal, you crazy. I said it before and I’ll say it again.

After OBS, Amani went to Canada while poor, old me stayed behind for my A-level course. We all tried to stay in touch as much as we could but I really missed our carefree days at ITM.

Years went by and we saw each other during special moments; when Amani got married, when I gave birth to Dania, whenever Rina came back to Malaysia for the holidays.

Last week, we all got together after not seeing each other in years. And blast those women, even after all these years, they still look gorgeous. We met up after work and Amani drove us all to MV. After much debating, we settled on Chillies as our destination for food.

We talked and updated each other about our lives. We reminisced about the good old days and laughed about how much we had all changed. We shared stories and secrets and reminded each other why we were each other’s kindred spirits.

Our time together was cut short by a phonecall from hubby who had gotten into an accident. Which I shall elaborate on in another post.

To my dear friends A&R, thanks so much for being there for me, throughout these years. Forgive me for all my shortcomings. I hope we meet again soon. Love you guys!!

A Birthday Note to Dina Yasmin - 5 Years Old

Dearest Dina,

Looking at my previous posts, it just dawned on me that I didn't write you a birthday note for your 4th birthday. Trying to remember why, it must have been due to my pregnancy with Daria. I would have been 6 weeks in; my HG would have just started.

I apologise my dear, it was not my intention to abandon my obligation during your special day.

For this year, your birthday fell during the raya month. For this reason (and because your abah didn't want the hassle of entertaining so many kids at the house...yeah, right, like he's the one doing the entertaining....or cleaning up...*eye roll*), we decided to celebrate your birthday at your school with your friends.

Our usual bake lady was busy so after much internet searching, I found this site on Kak Dilla's blog. Thank you so much Edina for entertaining my late request. The cupcakes you made for Dina really made her day. After we had picked them up from you the other day, she was so excited, she kept saying "I love my cupcakes!! I wanna hug them!!"
Your birthday fell on a Sunday but since we had several open houses to go to, we didn't get to have the family dinner as planned. But you being you never complained. Going to bed, you excitedly exclaimed, tomorrow ibu is coming to my school and bringing my cupcakes for my friends.

When you saw me at your school, you greeted me with a huge smile. Your teacher asked your classmates to sing Happy Birthday and you just couldn't stop smiling. You looked so proud giving out the cupcakes and goodie bags.

My dearest Buttercup,

It's amazing how big you are yet how manja you can still be at times. You're so funny and cheeky, you leave us all rolling on the floor laughing with the things you say. You're still into all things Princesses and for obvious reasons I wish you would stay like that forever.

I love hearing you read your books because you still have some pelatness. I love riding in the car and listening to you sing. You may not know all the words but you sure have the beat in you. I love smelling you after you've taken a bath; you smell like cool breezes and warm sunshine.

Thank you for all the smiles and laughter you've bought into our lives. Thank you for all the hugs and kisses.

My prayers for you this birthday is that you grow up healthy, happy and full of life. Just remember, no matter how big you grow up to be, you'll always be my cheeky, little girl.

I love you so much Dina and I hope you know everyday just how much I do.

Happy fifth birthday, my Beautiful

Love, ibu.

What I Owe My Blog

Have so much to blog about but no time. A list of intended blog posts:

1. Raya complete with pictures.
2. My SIL’s engagement ceremony also with pictures
3. My meet up with long lost friends, Rina and Amani.
4. Hubby’s car accident…sob!

We won’t be going anywhere this weekend (other than a few open houses) so hopefully I’ll be able to update then. Until then, everyone have a great weekend.

Loser, Winner

LOSER
This guy is messed up. Who the hell does he think he is? He’s rude and a freaking idiot. Sure, it’s the VMA and it’s MTV and it makes for great television. Then one look at Taylor Swift’s crestfallen face and it’s not so funny anymore. The poor girl looked like she was going to burst into tears.
I heard he got escorted out from the building after his stupid rant. I just hope the security shoved their foot up his ass before tossing him out on the pavement.

WINNER
Leave it to Bootylicious to save the day. After winning Video of the Year, she graciously gave the stage to Taylor to “have her moment”. Now that’s the true spirit of entertainment. It doesn’t have to be shocking or ridiculous. Heart warming moments are what this world needs more of.

LOSER
I understand that when you’re tired and under the pressure of defending your title, getting called for a foot fault may be frustrating. However, it’s no reason to rant for minutes at the linesman. And threatening to shove your racket down her throat. The dudette was only doing her job. I hardly think she was out to get Serena for any personal reason. Bad form by Serena, I think, especially since it cost her the match.

WINNER
I teared up when I first watched this clip. So touching.

Steve Monforto leaned over the railing and made a beautiful 2-handed catch. He celebrates with other fans, high-fives his 3-year-old daughter, Emily, and hands his prize over to his little daughter to keep.

BIG MISTAKE!!

Instead of hanging on to it, Emily does what little kids do: She throws the ball back!

Her dad was shocked, he definitely wasn't expecting that. But instead of getting mad he wraps his arms around his daughter and hugs her, a sweet and priceless moment.Apparently the girl was a little upset after the toss. "I gave her a big hug and she buried her head in my chest and I said 'It's all right, don't worry about it," "I give [her] a ball at home, and she throws it and I throw it back," Steve continued. "So, I gave her a ball and she threw it!"

Bear hugs are the best! Definitely “Father of the Year” material!!

Time to Dig Up My Old VHS Tapes

I didn’t flinch when MJ died. It hardly hit me when Farrah went too. But this guy…this guy gets me. I feel it everytime I hear that song. I feel it everytime I see clay pottery. I feel it everytime I sit in a corner.
I [heart] Partick Swayze. RIP.

Imagining a Target on Every Head Around Me

Stuck in a presentation meeting with boss. Hmmm...it's been 2 hours and we're only up to slide #12. 20 slides to go, then it's my portion to present.

It's already 4.30pm...what time is this meeting going to end?!!!!

Depa ni semua x posa ke? Tak ingat nak balik rumah nak masak ke? Ke ada bibik macam aku untuk tolong masak? Eventhough I have a bibik, I still want to be at home to break fast with the kids.

Uwaaa....please people. Can we move along? Why are we taking 20 minutes to discuss each slides? Uhuk...it's bad enough I have to drive back alone because hubby is breaking fast at a nearby hotel (vendor belanja). Why aren't I going with him? Gooooodddd question...hmmm. Nevermind la, pity Dania having to break fast alone.

Oh my god, they've backtracked to slide #10!! That's it...it seems, I'll be here till tomorrow morning.

8 Years and Counting

Today is our 8 year anniversary. Very sombre compared to previous years.

1. Hubby didn't wish me until I wished him first during our way to work. Even then he wouldn't admit that he'd forgotten. Sob! We drove past a Pizza San Francisco outlet and he said "ok, tonight I'll bring you out and eat here." Huh? A bowl of pasta is not going to get you off that easily!!

2. On my way back from a morning meeting, I slipped on the stairs and fell on my butt. Sib baik kaki tersilang cantik, duduk bersimpuh. Kalau terkangkang, memang aku tobat resign terus! People in their cars lining up to enter the parking lot all turned and looked at me. A taxi blew his horn. "Yeah, thanks for the heads up, bro. Why don't you take a picture and put it on the Internet next time."

3. In the end, hubby and I didn't go out for dinner. Bibik had already cooked up a storm. Hubby promised to take me out this weekend. Mana bang, makan roti canai ke? *Sigh*

Apa2 je la hubby dearest. I still love you to death!

Blog Tag Bahasa Melayu

Curik dari blog Ila. Dia tak ajak buat pun, aku buat jugak.

1. Bekas kekasih saya adalah :
Mendiang River Phoenix…bleh? Wakakaka..perasan la beb. Actually Along nak ngaku hal bekas kekasih ni, payah sket. Sebab tak pernah ada kekasih sebelum hubby. Wah…begitu “perempuan melayu terakhir”kah aku? Oh bukan. Tidak sama sekali. Cuma banyak kes aku berchintan, either aku yang tergila ngan mamat tu or mamat tu yang tergila ngan aku. Takde yang betul2 serasi hinggalah berjumpa mamat bernama R@*^!& K$^&*.

2. Saya sedang mendengar :
Ofismate tengah salam2 semua orang sebab arini last day dia kat sini. Member ikut laki pi belajar kat Jepun. Sesungguhnya aku amat jeles!! Awat la laki aku maleh nak sambung belajar ni? Bleh aku pi ikut, jadi house wife, shopping je keje…wakakaka..lagi satu kes perasan.

3. Mungkin saya patut:
Pi solat zohor dah. Dah kul 3.30pm, tak solat lagi! Sia2 je aku posa kalau solat hujung waktu…takpe, habiskan tag ni dulu.

4. Saya suka :
mendengar celoteh anak2. Memang kekadang tak terlayan tapi semestinya terhibur.

5.Sahabat-sahabat baik saya :
Memang tak ramai tapi yang ada tu…memang kamcing habis!! I love you guys!!

6.Saya tak paham :
Macamana orang macam Paris Hilton tu bleh laku? Padahal dia langsung takde talent, nak kata lawa pun tak sangat.

7.Saya kehilangan :
Keupayaan untuk membeli kereta baru dengan cash. Kalau piker lelama, memang bleh nangis…so takmo piker lagi.

8.Ramai yang berkata :
Aku dapat keje aku sekarang ni sebab ayah aku. Itu dulu la, memang sakit telinga dengar sup sap suap sap orang dok ngata. Masa tu aku memula start keje, pressure ya amat. Ni ayah aku pun dah lama pencen. Aku harap aku dah buktikan pada orang yang aku dapat keje ni atas kemampuan aku sendiri.

9.Makna nama saya :
Kalau tak silap, maksudnya awal. Apa yang awal aku pun tak sure. Kalau pi keje tu, lambat lagi ada la…kalau bab orang belanja makan je aku bleh awal. Hehehe..

10.Cinta itu adalah :
Sesuatu yang either indah atau menyakitkan.

11.Di suatu tempat, seseorang sedang :
tengah best bawak anak2 pi tengok wayang cite Up. Padahal bini dia tengah pulun kat tempat keje. Eh, bukan pulun..update blog.

Pergh….1Malaysia habis. Sket2 kelakar lak bunyi dia.

13.Ayat SELAMANYA membawa maksud :
kasih saying seorang ibu pada anak2nya. Unconditional love.

14.Telefon bimbit saya :
pakai hubby punya yang lama. Akunya apesal buat hal, takmo charge. Asyik2 tertera “unable to charge” kat skrin. Sib baik bulan Ramadhan, kalau tak dah lama aku lambungkan phone tu ke dinding.

15.Bila saya terjaga dari tidur :
mesti berkata2 pada diri sendiri…”5 minit je lagi, 5 minit je lagi”. Dan-dan dah sejam sambung tido.

16.Saya paling meluat apabila :
nampak orang buang sampah merata2, orang bawak kereta macam jalan tu bapak dia yang punya, mendengar cakap orang2 politik ni yang banyak munasarawak dari munasabah.

17.Pesta/Parti adalah :
Masa untuk berkumpul dengan kawan2 lama. Selalu bikin kat rumah aku sebab rumah aku ada bibik. Hahaha…saja je depa ni, tapi takpe, aku pun suka member2 bertandang ke rumah. Rasa meriah je. Tapi sekali sekala la…aku bukan rajin nak mop lantai hari2 pun.

18.Haiwan yang paling comel yang saya pernah temui ialah :
Kucing parsi asli kat rumah jiran. Pergh, bangsa letak tangan atas badan dia terus tenggelam. Punyala lebat bulu dia. Dah tu manja lak tu. Asyik2 nak gesel2 kat kaki orang. Sib baik ko kucing, kalau manusia, dah lama kena humban dalam van pencegah maksiat.

19.Peringkat umur yang paling menyeronokkan bagi saya ialah :
20-24. Time tu kat US. Walaupun tensen ngan study tapi seronok bila time cuti. Berjalan sakan.

20.Hari ini :
Menumpang ofismate ke tempat keje. Sib baik dia pi keje, kalau tak aku kena naik komuter. Uwek, malehnya nak bersesak2. Dah la ngan H1N1 ni….hmmm, lagila maleh. Balik nanti maybe tumpang kawan yang lain lak. Tengok camne hubby nak ambik kat mana nanti.

21.Malam ini saya akan :
tido awal. Ngantuk wei, semalam bleh lak aku layan Ace Ventura sampai kul 1am. Gelak sorang2 kat hall tu. Pagi tadi dah menyesal…ngantuk ya amat!!

22.Esok pula saya akan :
Pi keje ngan hubby. Cuba untuk balik awal.

23.Saya betul-betul inginkan :
sebuah mpv yang besar tapi still sporty, yang tak berapa mahal, senang nak maintain, paling best kalau ada orang bagi free, or aku menang contest ke. Masalahnya aku memang maleh masuk contest ni, tapi lepas tu jaki tengok orang lain menang. Camne??!!

24.Ketika anda lihat wajah anda di hadapan cermin pagi ini :
mata sembab!! Ace Ventura, it’s all your fault.

25.Pusat membeli-belah atau arked permainan :
Pusat membeli belah, walaupun aku tak berapa gemar shopping sebenarnya. Aku ni jenis kalau nak beli baju ke, seluar ke..kena 10 kali test, compare baru beli. Kekadang tu tak beli langsung. Selalu amalkan “buy what you need, not what you want’. Masalahnya ibu aku dok bebel sebab aku pakai baju 15 tahun ke tempat keje. Asalkan tak koyak nampak spender, lantak la yerk..

26.Makanan Barat atau Jepun :
Barat. Apa kes makan benda mentah? Tak dapat ditelan dek tekak.

27.Bilik yang terang atau gelap:
Gelap. Terang = panas. Lagipun kalau gelap aku leh berangan macam2 time….tooooootttttt. Ops silap, bukan untuk diceritakan di sini. Wakakaka.

To my girls before going to work today – Ok, love you. Have fun today (sebab nak pi tengok cite Up ngan abah depa).

30.Siapa yang anda nak Tag?Sukati korang la..sapa nak buat, buat…
