Sports Day

Last weekend, Dania and Dina had their school's Sports Day. Unfortunately for them, they both were unable to qualify for any individual events.

"Memula Kakngah masuk 70m, dapat #4, lepas tu 100m, dapat #5."

"Berapa orang lari sesama?"

"Lima."

Alahai...nevermind la my girls. I was never much of a runner myself (still not!). I was more into team sports like netball, basketball, badminton and volleyball (though I sucked at that...heehe).

The Sports Day was held on a Saturday for those in Std. 1 - 3 and on Sunday for those in Std. 4 -6. I think it made sense to break up the classes like that because, really none of the parents wanted to stay beyond 12pm.

Initially, I had planned to just drop off the girls at school then head back to catch up on my sleep. In the end, I ended up staying until the whole thing finished, which was around 1130am.

I missed seeing Dina participate in her event because the teachers had initially set up the games near the student tents, instead of the parents' tents. Plus, Dina had told me she was in the beanbag event, when actually she was in the drag-the-ball-using-hulahoop event. I had only realized she had finished when later on she came up to me, showing the medal she got.

"Wah, you got a medal! For what place?"

"Fourth!"

Alahai...nevermind. At least you had fun.

Dania participated in the "big shoes" event (terompah besar). Luckily I was able to spot her out from among the crowd. She was just about to start when I saw her and sprinted across the field to take her picture.
Her team was the first to go. I think there were like 3 teams of 3 and the last person had to run to the finish line with the ball. Dania's team showed great teamwork and they were the first team to reach the 1st checkpoint.

Excuse the excited voice in the foreground. Just another mom being in the moment for her child.

Unfortunately, they fumbled on the transition part and fell behind. In the end, they got fourth by a slight margin.

Eventhough they didn't get first place (or second or third..hehe), the important thing is they learned the concept of teamwork and had fun in the process.

Spain Wins The World Cup!!

So it's official, Spain has won the World Cup trophy with a wonderful goal by Andres Iniesta who scored with four minutes of extra time remaining to beat the Netherlands 1-0.

Despite my best efforts, I could not wake up this morning to catch the match live but I heard the results first thing in the morning (baru nak sms ko tanya, Joe..hehe) so I was celebrating all the way to the office. Hehehe.

Congratulations to Spain and all their fans (moi included!). Here's to the next World Cup in Brazil in 2014 (En Rashid...meh kumpul duit, mau pi!!).

EspaƱa gana

I know, I know..this entry is a bit late coming but I've been busy, what with going back to school and the girls and stuff with the cars.

Anyhow....SPAIN WON!!!

Germany lost!! Hah!!

I only saw part of the game, thanks to Daria who woke me up for a mid-night snack. I got to see the goal (beautiful header by Carles Puyol) and celebrate by myself downstairs while everyone else was asleep.

Paul the Octopus has spoken!
I'm hoping I can stay up to watch the finals. Again, rooting for SPAIN!!

Waka, waka...It's Time For Africa

I had been following the WC only recently because eventhough Spain is still in the game, my favourite player, Raul Gonzalez, is not playing. And also because Japan is out. And South Korea. And....sigh...ok, I admit, England (that one is for you, Angah).

However, last weekend I kind of got into the action. I caught most of the game between Germany and Argentina and LOL...sorry Argentina fans but your team sucked!! Seriously!! It looked like Germany was playing against school children. And Messi...well, I must say Messi played to his best ability but it's hard to score any goals if you're tired and every defender on your back and your teammates just hang back and expect you to shoot a goal everytime you get the ball. I mean come on people, he's good...but not THAT good. And football is a game of teamwork....sian Messi, asyik la kena rembat gol sorang2.

I was feeling pretty bad for Maradona especially when Germany shot that last minute 4th goal; he looked like he was going to break down and cry.

Anyway, of the 4 teams remaining, my ringgit is on Germany. My 2nd choice would be Spain...so this upcoming semi final between Germany and Spain should be interesting.

Whatever it is...they should stop playing the WC theme song on the radio!! I'm getting so sick of it already...especially since the girls sing it 24/7 too!!

We're In The Semi Finals!!

Congrats to our Thomas Cup team for reaching the semi finals! Last night was such an exciting game, eventhough I got most of the updates from Joe via sms since I had to attend the team dinner we had at Restaurant Nelayan. I got to see the 1st singles (Dato' LCW...I [heart] you!) and the last singles, Hafiz Hashim. Thank god, Hafiz played much better and more systematic than when we were up against Japan.

I'm trying to score tickets to see the semi finals live. If they still have any. I heard since last night, the tickets have been selling like hot cakes. I wanna bring the girls; especially Dania. It would be such an experience for them since they both love badminton.

OK, I'm off to check out the tickets. Later!

Edited: Argghhh!! Tickets for Lower Tier and Silver Tier all sold out!! The only ones available are those in Upper Tier, which En Rashid said "baik tengok kat TV je la..tak nampak shuttlecock dari atas tu." Sabarrrr je la...

Getting Hot & Sweaty With Hubby

Yeah..it's not what you think. Hah!!

Last week, F1 came to town. Hubby got us tickets to see the race which was kind of great because the last time we went, I was pregnant with Dina. Since we had plans on Saturday, we didn't go see the qualifiers. Too bad because it rained and watching a race in the rain is always exciting. On the way to Sepang. Hubby had his BMW t-shirt and Ferrari sunglasses on. Hawt!!

The final race was to start at 4pm so we decided to ditch the kids at my mom's house and head to Sepang from there. Fortunately traffic was handled right by the police but we nearly missed the Air Force performance. I had to take pictures from the car, which was ok since they flew right above us many times. The fighter planes that flew above us. They did some really great acrobatics.

We arrived at the race track around 3pm so we had an hour to kill before the race started. We headed in and visited all the booths they had outside. Hubby, before heading in.
My time to pose near the entrance.
My dream car..in another lifetime..with another husband. Muahahahahaaa..
Hubby with his dream car.
L.G also had a booth promoting their latest 3D TV screen. Aaannndd of course hubby took notice of all the sexy promoters. Enough to notice one of them had a tattoo on the small of her back.

Our tickets put us right and the end at the Tower so it was a long walk from the entrance. I was already regretting having jeans on. We got there just in time to see the racers start their initial lap before the race. The racers getting ready for the flag off.
Our seats were right at the end, right at the entrance to the pits top area. At a corner, so we were hoping to see a few good crashes.

Dudes, the sound of the engines...deafening doesn't even begin to describe it. Ear splitting doesn't even begin to describe it. And to make matters worst, we both forgot to bring any earplugs. We spent an entire hour with fingers in our ears, trying to lessen the sound of the engines.

This is how we spent the entire time at the tracks. *Sigh*

After an hour (and after Schumi had bowed out), we decided we had inhaled enough tire fumes to last a lifetime. We also didn't want to get caught in any traffic jam so around 5.30, we headed back. But not before we took more pictures. Schumi's car getting towed away. Too bad for him.
Check out the prices of the food and drinks sold at the track. RM20 for 6 sticks of satay?!! RM20 for a hotdog?!! And the Mat Salleh's were all lining up to buy. Checking the race status at one of the big screen TVs set up near the tracks. I don't understand, you pay hundreds of ringgit for tickets and end up watching the race on a TV screen. Just stay at home next time!!
Sweaty and half deaf..time to go home.

2010 All England Badminton - Congrats Dato' LCW!!

Lambat tak aku ngan berita ni?!

I had planned to watch the final but due to other commitments, had missed it. Damn!! Good thing I can catch it on Utube but still I love watching badminton live. The tension!! The suspense!!

Congrats to Dato' Lee Choong Wei for winning the men's singles. It sure was entertaining to watch, especially seeing how he clawed his way back from behind. Pure mental power!! But you have to give kudos also to that Japanese chap, Kenichi Tago. He's still young (21) so if he plays his cards (or shuttlecocks..hehe) right, he'll be #1 in no time.

It's great that Dato' LCW won but still, the fact that the last shot was out...puts a little damper on the celebration. I agree that, at an angle, it would have been hard to see exactly where the shuttlecock fell, and the linesman is only human.

But who cares!! Hah! Malaysia won!!

Here's looking forward to the Thomas Cup this May. Must go!!

ps: Have to comment on the Malaysian team T-shirt. Can't find a picture of it but it looks cool in a funny way. One side with sleeves; one side without. Bagi nampak muscle skeeetttt!!!
